Baristas Required — Re:co Dublin Coffee Service

Barista Guild of Europe have aligned with WCE to support the Re:co coffee service during the event in Dublin, June 21-22, and we need your help!

Re:co (Regarding: coffee) is a unique event designed for high-level discussion, leading innovation and strategy development for those passionate and influential in the world of specialty coffee. Through a mixture of speakers, interactive experiences, and opportunities for conversation, Re:co looks at the specialty coffee market, the challenges we face and some of the solutions we have, and also, shines a light on opportunities for growth and development and will delve into how these can be approached.

The Re:co Dublin coffee service has been designed to reflect the topics presented during the talks and will be available for delegates during scheduled coffee breaks throughout the two days. Two coffee bars will be set up with La Marzocco espresso machines and a manual brew station to showcase a range of coffees which will bring to life flavours highlighted in the new SCAA Coffee Tasters Flavor Wheel and WCR Coffee Lexicon. Delegates will have the opportunity to sample coffees prepared by the BGE volunteer baristas that will be partnered with flavour characteristics on the tasters wheel.

Alongside the coffee service James Rylance of Redchurch Brewery will present a beer bar, sampling beer that displays similar characteristics to the coffee and a milk bar celebrating the diversity of milk with milk sommelier Bas de Groot.

Benefits

Participating in the coffee service is a fantastic chance to meet and network with a broad range of industry professionals and a Re:co Barista Volunteer will benefit from having the opportunity to attend one full Re:Co session.

SCAE will make a contribution towards each volunteer's travel and accommodation costs. The service runs from 7am on Tuesday 21 June until Wednesday 22nd at 2pm and volunteers will need to be available the entire time. A briefing will be held on Monday evening.

Desired Qualities

Successful applicants to the volunteer position will have a high level of barista skills from a range of different experiences within the industry. Volunteer baristas should be confident that they can perform during a busy coffee service and maintain quality drinks throughout. You should be excited by the prospect of sharing your skills with peers from across Europe and having the opportunity to engage with future business leaders. Volunteers will be required to work in a number of positions during the two days so you should be willing to ‘get stuck in’ and cooperate with all tasks so that we can make the whole coffee service a success.

How to apply

Please follow the link below to complete the Re:co Barista Volunteer Application form. The deadline for applicants is 25 May. The selection process will begin immediately following this so that we can advise successful candidates in the week commencing 30 May.
